Jonas Campion

He is Professor of European History at the Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR), and a regular member at both the Centre interuniversitaire d’études québécoises (CIEQ) and the Groupe de recherche en histoire de la guerre (GRHG). His research primarily focuses on the history of policing and the development of public security practices and policies throughout the twentieth century. From 2021 to 2024, he held a UQTR Research Chair in Transnational History of Public Security.

A second strand of his work addresses the history of societies at war, with a particular focus on the practices of justice during the World Wars—an area in which issues of order are both prominent and deeply embedded. He is currently co-investigator on the SSHRC-funded project “Military Justice in Western Europe and North America, 14th to 20th Century.”
